Prairie Sky Recovery Centre
As the doors swings open, an instant feeling of love overwhelms you and regardless of your current state, you feel your worries and concerns begin to sleep away.
We are a unique, privately owned treatment centre for drug and alcohol abuse founded by a recovering alcoholic of 32 years. As a result, are very passionate about what we do! Prairie Sky Recovery programs are somewhat unique in nature as we take a psychosocial approach to addictions recovery.
We are about healing and recovery through relationship. This method supports our client’s dignity and self-worth as the focus is placed on the client’s intellectual and emotional needs rather than a medical model where the emphasis is set on medication. Our programs are delivered by skilled, empathetic and caring staff. Our mandate is to employ people in healthy sobriety in every department of the centre. This allows the clients to see that sobriety is achievable as well as offering genuine support and guidance.
Our programs include 12 Step facilitations, Emotional Health and Wellness, Mindfulness skills training, cognitive behavior practices and relapse prevention. We limit our class to no more than 6-8 people so that our clients feel comfortable in sharing and make meaningful connections with their counselors and other clients. We have no wait times and can often accommodate clients immediately. While we have new classes starting every two weeks, we have continuous admission to help those in crisis.
We believe that a quiet rural environment where clients can feel at home is a significant part of their recovery. The former Notre Dame Convent- a 20,000 sq ft municipal heritage building- was renovated to offer a peaceful retreat. Located on a 6-acre parcel, our co-ed facility has 24 beds and offers comfortable private and semi-private rooms. We love our soaring ceilings, great oak doors, high baseboards, stained glass and skeleton keys. Our building has undergone significant renovations since our start in 2008 and serves our needs well.
Finding Prairie Sky Recovery is the best thing that ever happened to me. I can manage my life now. I am healthy physically and mentally. I am sober and happy.–Miriam
